Configure Badge Scanner To Read Your Badge Type

How to configure your NF4 badge scanner to read the badge type of your access control system.

This will need to be done once for each badge scanner to configure the scanner to read your badge type.
  1. From the Main Menu, select Settings.

  2. Tap the Open Device Manager button.

  3. Tap on the Settings Gear next to your NF4 connected device to open up the device settings.

  4. Tap the PAC Profiles device option.  You may have to scroll down to see it, depending on your device screen size.

  5. Tap the Wizard button at the top right of the screen.

  6. Tap in the Scan tag or enter raw PAC data (hex string) text field.  A blinking cursor and your device keyboard should appear.

  7. Scan your badge.  You should see the text field populate with a string of letters and numbers.

If nothing shows up after you scan your badge, make sure your scanner is connected to your device.  See the step-by-step guide for details.

  8. Tap on the Enter value printed on card text field.  A blinking cursor and your device keyboard should appear.

  9. Type in the value printed on your badge.

This is the same badge ID you will have entered in Headcount as the Identifier field.

  10. Tap the Calculate button.  You should see the Start bit and Bits count numbers change.

  11. Tap the Save button at the top right of the screen.

  12. Tap the Back button at the top left of the screen.

  13. Tap the Apply button at the top right of the screen.

  14. You’re done!  Tap Done and then Back to exit the settings screen.
